666 Billy The Kid Lives by Saw Mama

I will begin this blog with a review of a one day old release by "Saw Mama", the performance name used by my friend Mars. Yes I am reviewing my friend's release, so there.

1. Going Away 02:48
2. Amargo 02:58
3. Black Cane 02:36
4. Haha Ur Homeless 03:56
5. Sand Castle 02:37
6. Down The Tracks 01:55
7. Box Car Wall 04:18
8. Carly Rossi - Ypsilanti 02:03
released December 30, 2015

This is recorded very simply, just Mars' banjo and voice, with only a little enhancement to her voice to fatten it.  It is very punk in a one-take and fuck perfection sort of way. Anal retentives who insist on perfection over truth should not bother. On the other hand if you enjoy honest music this is for you. There are 9 songs on these eight tracks, a hidden song is on track four. These seem to be mostly covers, with some banjo instros. Most of this is heartfelt, and you can feel heartache behind several songs, especially Box Car Wall. Haha UR Homeless is a silly, amusing tune that breaks up her scorpio intensity. Track two is a Spanish song, and I assume she is singing it in Spanish, though since she is of Brazilian ancestry she might be singing it in Portuguese -- I don't know either language well enough to tell. The last track is a shock, Mars on saw (she's quite good), plus guitar and vocals by Carly Rossi that is punk as fuck. I recommend this, for raw, heartfelt goodness.

Available for free here, but pay her something dammit, she's homeless and living on the road in her van.
